In Every Life
New Cellars, Pembroke College
Told between two timelines in the 1890s and present day, two couples find each other. Arabella and Nellie are preparing to enter British society with their debuts, but struggle to adapt to a new life of balls and proposals, whilst fighting developing feelings for each other. Their story is told through a diary, where Arabella charts both her new feelings for Nellie, her mysterious despair over being proposed to by a childhood friend, and the worry of her father’s bankruptcy. The diary is found by Isabelle in the present day on a writing retreat, having just broken up with her long time boyfriend. It turns out she is sharing a room with her estranged university flatmate, Olivia, and they reconnect through the story of Arabella and Nellie. There are various balls and dances as all the characters grapple with change, feelings, and reconciliation
